How to add a cookie consent banner to systeme.io
On systeme.io, paste the snippet once in your profile's Settings, then Sales Funnels, in the Tracking code box: it applies to every page of every funnel. Pages that need the snippet inside the head can take it in the page's Settings, Tracking, header code, and blogs have a tracking code of their own. Mark your Facebook Pixel and other tags with type="text/plain" and a data-cq-category so they wait for consent.Steps
Where to paste the snippet in systeme.io
systeme.io has two places for tracking code on funnel pages, and its help center explains both:
For every funnel at once. Click your profile picture, then Settings, then Sales Funnels in the menu on the left. Paste the snippet at the top of the Tracking code box and click Save. systeme.io applies this code to all your funnels automatically, so sales pages, opt-in pages, order forms and thank-you pages all get the banner:
html<script src="https://cookiequiet.com/cq.js" data-site="YOUR_SITE_KEY" data-consent-mode="1" data-auto-block="1" defer></script>
For one page. Open the funnel, select the page in the list on the left and click Edit page. Click Settings in the upper left corner and scroll down to Tracking. The header part is for code that must sit inside the page's head; paste the snippet there and save.
Whichever box you use, systeme.io asks you not to include <head>, <body> or <html> tags in it: paste the script tag alone.
Blogs. A blog is not a funnel, so the funnel-wide code does not reach it. Open the blog in the editor, open its settings and look for its tracking code, which has a header part like a funnel page; paste the snippet there. Check your course and community pages the same way: they are separate areas of systeme.io, so look in their settings for a tracking code field, and run the scanner on them.
How to make the Facebook Pixel and other tags wait
systeme.io's help center uses the Facebook Pixel as its example of tracking code, and that is what most systeme.io users have. Pasted as is, it runs on page load, before anyone answers the banner. Mark it, in the same box, below the snippet:
html<script type="text/plain" data-cq-category="marketing">!function(f,b,e,v,n,t,s){if(f.fbq)return;n=f.fbq=function(){n.callMethod?n.callMethod.apply(n,arguments):n.queue.push(arguments)};if(!f._fbq)f._fbq=n;n.push=n;n.loaded=!0;n.version='2.0';n.queue=[];t=b.createElement(e);t.async=!0;t.src=v;s=b.getElementsByTagName(e)[0];s.parentNode.insertBefore(t,s)}(window,document,'script','https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/fbevents.js');fbq('init', 'YOUR_PIXEL_ID');fbq('track', 'PageView');</script>
The Google tag gets data-cq-category="analytics" on both of its script tags, and a TikTok or Google Ads tag gets marketing. The Meta Pixel guide covers purchase events, and the guide to blocking scripts until consent shows every pattern. Conversion events you add on a thank-you page also need the marking, or they fire without consent.
Scripts that widgets load with JavaScript are held by the auto-blocker, which knows about 80 trackers. Videos you embed with an iframe in a Raw HTML element can use data-cq-src instead of src so they load after consent.
Does systeme.io have its own cookie banner?
systeme.io's help center does not document a built-in cookie banner for funnels or blogs, so there is nothing to turn off and no second banner to worry about. The free cookie scanner shows which cookies your pages set, including those from systeme.io itself, and fills Cookiequiet's cookie table and policies from what it finds.
How to add the Cookie preferences link
Add a Raw HTML element to the footer area of your pages with:
html<a href="#cq-preferences" data-cq-show-preferences>Cookie preferences</a>
systeme.io notes that Raw HTML is not available on info pages and does not render in Preview mode. Where you cannot add it, turn on the floating Cookie preferences button in the banner settings.
How to test
- Open a live funnel page (not the preview) in a private window. The banner shows.
- Click Reject all and check the cookies in the developer tools:
cq_consentand no_fbpor_ga. - Clear the cookies, click Accept all, reload: the pixel runs. Check Meta's Pixel Helper or the network tab.
- Check the consent log in the Cookiequiet dashboard.
Cookiequiet is free for one website with geo-targeting included, and Starter costs €3 per website per month with no pageview limit.
