Cookiequiet vs Osano: a $199 privacy platform against a €3 banner

Pick Cookiequiet if you need a consent banner, a scanner, policies and a consent log for one or a few websites at a published price. Pick Osano if you are buying a privacy programme rather than a banner: subject rights forms, a GDPR and UK representative, compliance checks, a financial guarantee and a Google-certified CMP, with a budget of $199 a month and up. The two are not aimed at the same buyer.

Pricing

Osano sells a privacy platform, and its self-service cookie consent plans reflect that. On 2026-10-20 the plans page listed Free at $0 a month for one user, one domain and 5,000 monthly visitors; Plus at $199 a month for two users, three domains and 30,000 monthly visitors, with privacy and legal templates and a UK and GDPR representative; and Basic Privacy at a custom price with unlimited users and domains, a compliance check, basic subject rights handling, guided onboarding and a "No Fines Guarantee" of up to $500,000 under its terms. The page shows "$" without naming the currency and no annual prices. Osano counts monthly visitors rather than pageviews, and offers a 30-day free trial.

Cookiequiet is free for one website with unlimited pageviews and geo-targeting, then €3 per website per month or €29 a year, or €79 once for a lifetime licence. The gap is wide: Osano Plus costs $199 a month for three domains, Cookiequiet's Agency plan costs €19 a month for ten Pro websites. The two products are not aimed at the same buyer, and the pricing says so.

Compliance features

Osano picks the banner from the visitor's IP location and does not let administrators override the choice: opt-in regions such as the EU and the UK get a Reject All button, while the default US template follows the opt-out model with no deny button. Cookiequiet shows Accept all and Reject all with equal prominence by default wherever the banner is shown, and lets you choose where it is shown: everywhere, only in regulated countries, or a custom list, with a US opt-out notice and Global Privacy Control support. The two approaches are explained in the Reject all guide.

Both support Google Consent Mode; Osano's product page does not state the version. Cookiequiet implements Consent Mode v2 with the six signals and a dataLayer event, plus Microsoft UET.

Consent records: Osano logs consent events with the banner version, device and timestamp and calls its logs auditable; retention is not stated on the plans page. Cookiequiet keeps records 30 days on Free and 5 years on Pro, with CSV export on Pro.

Certification: Osano CMP is on Google's certified CMP list, and its product page lists the IAB GPP framework. Cookiequiet is not certified, so sites serving AdSense, Ad Manager or AdMob ads to EEA, UK or Swiss visitors need a certified CMP for those ads.

Beyond the banner, Osano Plus and Basic Privacy add things Cookiequiet does not have: a GDPR and UK representative, subject rights (DSAR) intake forms and workflows, a compliance check and a financial guarantee.

Setup and platforms

Both deploy with one JavaScript tag. Osano supports more than 40 languages; Cookiequiet ships 24, picked from the visitor's browser, with every string editable. Osano offers a free compliance scan of a URL; its plans page does not state scan limits. Cookiequiet scans 10 pages on Free and 50 on Pro, names what it finds from about 80 providers, and offers a public scanner on 5 pages at /tools/cookie-scanner.

Policies: Osano includes privacy and legal templates from Plus. Cookiequiet generates a privacy policy, a cookie policy and terms from the scan on every plan, in English and French, as templates rather than legal advice.

Where Osano is better

  • A Google-certified CMP with IAB GPP support.
  • A privacy programme in one place: subject rights forms, a GDPR and UK representative, compliance checks, guided onboarding.

  • More than 40 languages.

Where Cookiequiet is better

  • Price: free with unlimited pageviews, €3 per website, €19 for ten; Osano's first paid plan is $199 a month.
  • No visitor or pageview counter on any plan; Osano Free stops at 5,000 monthly visitors.
  • Control over where the banner shows, with a Reject all button by default everywhere it shows.
  • Consent log retention of 5 years on Pro, policies written from the scan, an AI banner designer, a lifetime licence.

Switching

Remove the Osano tag, add the Cookiequiet tag before every other script, and mark the scripts that must wait for consent with type="text/plain" data-cq-category="analytics" (or marketing, functional); Cookiequiet's auto-blocker also holds scripts injected by tag managers from about 80 known trackers. Run a scan, review the categories, and generate the cookie policy. Export your Osano consent logs before closing the account and keep them for your retention period, as explained in how long to keep consent records. If you relied on Osano's subject rights forms or representative service, replace them separately: Cookiequiet does not provide them.
