How to add a cookie consent banner to a Kajabi site

In Kajabi, paste the snippet in Settings, then Site details, in the Header Page Scripts field: Kajabi prints it in the head of every page except offer checkout and upsell pages. Add it again in Settings, then Checkout, in the header tracking code, and replace Kajabi's built-in Google Analytics and Meta Pixel connections with marked tags if they must wait for consent. Kajabi has no cookie banner of its own.

Steps

Copy your snippetIn the Cookiequiet dashboard, open your website and copy the install snippet: one script tag with your site key, data-consent-mode and data-auto-block set to 1, and defer.
Paste it in Header Page ScriptsFrom the Dashboard, open Settings, then Site details. Under Page scripts, paste the snippet at the top of the Header Page Scripts field and click Save.
Add it to checkout pagesHeader Page Scripts do not run on offer checkout pages. Open Settings, then Checkout, and paste the snippet in the Header tracking code of the Checkout Tracking Code section. Save.
Replace built-in pixels with marked tagsIf Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel is connected through Kajabi's integrations, disconnect it and paste the tags in Header Page Scripts below the snippet, with type="text/plain" and a data-cq-category.
Mark the other tagsGive every other tracking script in Header Page Scripts and in the checkout tracking code the type="text/plain" attribute and a data-cq-category.
Add the Cookie preferences linkAdd a link to #cq-preferences in your site footer, or turn on the floating Cookie preferences button in the banner settings.
Test pages and checkoutOpen the site in a private window, click Reject all and check that no _ga or _fbp cookie is set, on a page and on a checkout page. Accept all, reload, and check the consent log.

Where to paste the snippet in Kajabi

Kajabi has one field for code on every page. From the Dashboard, open Settings, then under Site settings click Site details. Under Page scripts, paste the snippet at the top of Header Page Scripts and click Save:

html
<script src="https://cookiequiet.com/cq.js" data-site="YOUR_SITE_KEY" data-consent-mode="1" data-auto-block="1" defer></script>

Kajabi documents that code in Header Page Scripts goes in the head of every page except offer checkout pages and upsell pages. Two more places complete the setup:

  • Checkout pages. Open Settings, then under Payment settings click Checkout. In the Checkout Tracking Code section, paste the snippet in the Header tracking code field and save. A single offer can opt out of these codes in its checkout settings, so leave Include header tracking code on.
  • Upsell pages. Each upsell has a Custom Code panel for custom JavaScript, which must not contain script tags. If you run tracking on upsell pages, load the banner there with this JavaScript:
js
var s = document.createElement('script');
s.src = 'https://cookiequiet.com/cq.js';
s.defer = true;
s.setAttribute('data-site', 'YOUR_SITE_KEY');
s.setAttribute('data-consent-mode', '1');
s.setAttribute('data-auto-block', '1');
document.head.appendChild(s);

Kajabi reserves the code editor, which edits template files, for its Pro plan. Header Page Scripts are a site setting, and Kajabi's article names no plan requirement for them; this setup needs nothing else.

How to handle Kajabi's Google Analytics and Meta Pixel connections

Kajabi has no built-in cookie banner; its help center suggests adding a third-party cookie tool through Page scripts, which is what the snippet is. Kajabi's own connections to Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel print their tags themselves, so Cookiequiet cannot mark them, and Kajabi notes that its Meta Pixel integration needs consent configured on both the cookie tool and Facebook's side.

The clean setup is to disconnect those integrations and paste the tags in Header Page Scripts, below the snippet, marked:

html
<script type="text/plain" data-cq-category="analytics" src="https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=G-XXXXXXX"></script>
<script type="text/plain" data-cq-category="analytics">
window.dataLayer = window.dataLayer || [];
function gtag(){dataLayer.push(arguments);}
gtag('js', new Date());
gtag('config', 'G-XXXXXXX');
</script>

The Meta Pixel base code gets data-cq-category="marketing", as shown in the Meta Pixel guide. One trade-off: Kajabi's Enhanced Checkout sends purchase events automatically only through its integrations. Without them, add your purchase event to the checkout tracking code, marked the same way, or use Google Tag Manager with Consent Mode.

Widgets that load scripts with JavaScript (chat, schedulers) are held by the auto-blocker, which knows about 80 trackers. Videos you embed in a Custom Code block can use data-cq-src instead of src to wait for consent.

Which cookies does Kajabi set itself?

Kajabi uses cookies for logins, purchases and checkout, which are necessary. Kajabi also asks that consent tools treat its rl_anonymous_id cookie as required, otherwise landing page A/B test metrics come out lower. That cookie measures tests rather than delivering something the visitor asked for, so how you classify it in your cookie table is your decision. The free cookie scanner lists what your site sets.

How to test

  1. Open the site in a private window, logged out of Kajabi, and click Reject all.
  2. Check the cookies in the developer tools: cq_consent, Kajabi's own cookies, and nothing from Google or Meta.
  3. Open an offer's checkout page: the banner is there and the choice is already applied.
  4. Clear the cookies, click Accept all, reload: the marked tags run. Check the consent log in the dashboard.

Cookiequiet is free for one website with geo-targeting included, and Starter costs €3 per website per month with no pageview limit.

Questions

No. Kajabi's help center recommends adding a third-party cookie tool through Settings, then Site details, then Page scripts. The Cookiequiet snippet goes there.
Header Page Scripts do not run on offer checkout or upsell pages. Add the snippet to the Header tracking code under Settings, then Checkout, and to the upsell page's Custom Code as JavaScript.
Kajabi prints that pixel itself, so Cookiequiet cannot mark it, and Kajabi says it needs consent set up on both sides. Pasting the pixel as a marked tag in Header Page Scripts makes it wait for marketing consent.
Kajabi's help center names no plan requirement for Header Page Scripts or the checkout tracking code, which are site settings. Only the code editor, which this setup does not need, is limited to the Pro plan.
